At times, the plastic surgeon will remark to wife Heather Dubrow that between son Nick, 21, twin sister Max, (who came out as bisexual) 18-year-old Kat (who shared she's gay) and 14-year-old Ace (who identifies as transgender) "We include such a rainbow of kids."
Marveling at their colorful animation, he explained to E! News in an exclusive interview, Heather "used to say to me, not complaining, but just that it's unusual that we'd have such a rainbow," the celestial body of E!'s Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind continued. "And I said, 'We were chosen for it. That's what we're supposed to act with our platform.'"

Heather Dubrow is a celestial body of the "Real Housewives of Orange County." But she's also a celebrity mother to her four children – three of whom identify as LGBTQ.
"I feel like I was given these kids for a reason," Dubrow, 54, says over a Zoom call from New York where she's promoting the latest season of "RHOC." "And what I really would love to accomplish is to hold having conversations, and opening up conversations in other people's families."
Amid increasingly unfriendly anti-LGBTQ legislation, Dubrow aims to normalize families like hers to ensure progress toward acceptance doesn't dissipate.

Question: Talk to me about being a parent to LGBTQ-identifying children.

When Heather Dubrow was asked to rejoin the cast of "The True Housewives of Orange County" after a four-season part, she thought hard about the decision.
It was a big deal to reveal up her home to the cameras again — some days for seven hours per day — and have her confidential life in the spotlight again.
However, the 2020 present came shortly after her daughter, Maximilla (whom she calls Max), revealed she was bisexual at the age of 17.
"I'd worked for equality before Max came out," Dubrow, a mom of four, told Business Insider. "But I knew the show would give me a platform to help normalize it."
In 2021 — the year that the family was featured in the 16th season of "RHOC" — Max's then 14-year-old younger sister, Katerina (known as Kat), came out as a lesbian.
The show included an interview in which Kat said she had faced bigotry at educational facility for her sexuality.

As a parent, her main role is "to back them and defend them and take care of them and guide them," The Real Housewives of Orange County star explained in an exclusive interview with E! News. "So whoever your children are and however they identify, that's your job: Love them, preserve them, take care of them."
In the years since daughter Max, 20, came out as bisexual, daughter Kat, 17, announced to the family that she's gay and son Ace, 13, revealed he's transgender, Heather and her husband, Botched doctor Terry Dubrow have done just that.
"But the most important lesson I can give to a parent of an LGBTQ+ youngster, or any child, is to listen," stressed Heather, also mom to 20-year-old Nick, "because people just want to be heard."

Heather Dubrow's second daughter followed in her big sister's footsteps, albeit a year later, coming out publicly about her sexuality. Kat, who is 15, has come out as homosexual a year after her older sister Max, 18, came out as bisexual.
"We've got four kids, they are different genders, unlike sexualities, and all at interesting places in their lives, figuring out who they are and where they belong as humans," Heather told People in a new interview.
