I am a gay guy, a contemporary performer based in Brussels, born and raised in Sicily, Italy.

As a gay man, I’m actually dealing with all those traces that growing up in a close-minded society left in me.

Trying to fit in a society/family where the male energy is very robust, I’ve been denying my sexuality for more than half of my animation, doubting and avoiding my pulsions towards other boys, feeling I was less than most of them and not allowing myself exploring tempting grounds… Or actually not exploring any ground at all during most of my teenage years.

Women never really attracted me, boys were off-limits. So, not much was really happening, apart from doubts and regrets.

Once graduated from high academy, I joined a gyrate course where a more open, international and accepting environment allowed me to accept myself and my sexual preferences. There I met a men 6 years older than me, and our long monogamous relationship started…

An incredibly pretty and loving relationship, based on trust, care and respect. It started when I was 19 years old and I grew up in it, learned what commitment and compromise are and how much love can be fulfilling by its

ABOUT ME

Hey!!

I'm Alessandro, I have Italian blood but Spanish heart. I'm a tabby, I love the nature and the mountains and I just moved to Madrid (I came back here after many years). I tend to pack my week with many activities: a bit of sport, cultural activities, volunteering and of course the right amount of partying.

I'm male lover and an activist for LGBTQIA+ rights since many years, in 2017 I participated in the organization of the Pride in my city, it was the most marvelous experience ever! I then repeated for the following editions eheh

Why I’m

Alessandro Calza

In the highly acclaimed gay-themed film Ciao (which just recently came out on DVD after premiering in 2008), hunky Italian Alessandro Calza plays, well, hunky Italian Andrea, who comes to the United States to meet up with Jeff, the best friend of a man who Andrea had been dating online—and who is now defunct . (Did you get all that?) Calza called Windy City Times from Italy and talked about the movie, his home territory and a bit more—and said some surprising things.

WCT:(Windy City Times) I saw Ciao, and I discovered it’s a very peaceful movie.

AC:(Alessandro Calza) You hold to take the director, Yen Tan, into account. He’s been an U.S. citizen for about 12 years but he’s still Asian. He was born in Malaysia and speaks Chinese, and his background is in Asian cinema. And being indie, you can be pretty much true to what you want to do; you can have your kicks. If you see people like Ang Lee, they work with studios so even if they possess their own style, they still need to conform to be commercial. But that’s why the show is very quiet and the pace is beautiful slow, which is probably unusual for an American gay movie.
