THANKS FOR PRAYING…HERE WE GO!

At Grace Church, we observe communion through three elements: Foot Washing, the Love Feast, and the Bread and the Cup. We believe that each of these elements captures a dimension of the gospel that is vital to be remembered and celebrated.

WHAT IS COMMUNION?
The word communion means simply “sharing something in common”. Communion is a symbolic practice that we do to remember and commemorate key aspects of our faith. The meaning behind communion is deeper than merely the individual elements; it symbolizes Jesus’ love for us. Just as a groom demonstrates his love for his bride on their wedding sunlight through symbolic acts, such as exchanging rings, the three elements of communion demonstrate Jesus saying, “I love you,” to His bride, the Church.

These elements remind us of:

His daily cleansing in our lives (Foot Washing)
The celebration awaiting us in heaven (the Love Feast)
The price He paid for us through death on the cross so we could have unending life (the Bread and the Cup).
Anyone who shares faith in Christ is welcome to be present at. We also welcome anyone who would like to observe the symbolism without participating.

Bridge of Grace and Truth

Our goal as a group:

What is God’s desire for each of us as we move forward together in step with Jesus?
“It is the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge, our job to love.” – Billy Graham

Looking back – We as individuals and as a Church, have a history of getting our roles wrong. We acquire assumed roles that are not ours. Christ said “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). We are painfully aware that we hold fallen short in this, particularly toward LGBT+ people, and have often been more hateful, bigoted, homophobic than loving, open-hearted and welcoming. We regret as a church and as individuals the rift between us and seek forgiveness and reconciliation.

Looking forward – We are committed to increase love and care to all people. Our longing for LGBT+ people is the same as for ourselves and all people: Our purpose is to exalt Jesus Christ by making disciples who… Treasure Jesus, Grow with others and Serve the Planet. Our desire for each of us is to encounter Christ where we are and to step more and more in step with him in all areas of our lives. We aim to work to

Is Same-Sex Attraction Sinful?

Introduction

Well, welcome to Sundays in July! A bit other than normal, but we’ll take what we can get! It is a pleasure and a privilege to be together, even in this modified way. The title of our seminar this morning is: Is Same-Sex Attraction Sinful? And the necessity of the ask reflects the increasing confusion within the church on the matter of biblical sexual ethics.

There continue to be mainline churches and denominations caving on the issue of homosexual practice. Not long ago, the United Methodist Church announced the potential for a split in the denomination over whether to ordain unrepentant homosexuals to the ministry. And while I’m sure there are churches who contact themselves evangelical who would also dial themselves “affirming” of homosexuality, there seems to be just enough sanity within the conservative evangelical church to maintain the line on the sinfulness of homosexual practice, for which we express gratitude God.

But there is not as much clarity within our circles of semi-conservative evangelicalism on the issue of whether same-sex attraction is in itself

A call for pastors to stand together on biblical sexual morality.

Dear Minister of the Gospel,

I inscribe to you this Christmas season to call your attention to an urgent matter in which the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is under attack.

On December 22, I received an email from Pastor James Coates of GraceLife Church of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. You will remember that he was recently imprisoned for keeping his church open during COVID-19 lockdowns. James is a graduate of The Master’s Seminary and co-author (with Dr. Nathan Busenitz) of an excellent new book—God and Government (to be released March 2022). James’s recent email gave me perception into the Canadian government's decision to pass Bill C-4, which “directly comes against parents and counsellors who would seek to offer biblical counsel with respect to sexual immorality and gender.” James indicates that it could be used to “criminalize evangelism.” To clarify the bill, James forwarded this email from Pastor Andrew DeBartolo:

Pastor John,

Thank you so much for your willingness not only to shine a light on the s

Grace Midtown Church said I'd "Never Hit a glass Ceiling." That wasn't accurate.

Kevin Garcia is was attending a popular Atlanta area church known for being welcoming of everyone. But after investing years of his life into the life of this church, it turned out there was limit to how he was allowed to participate, despite his pastors assurances otherwise.

I started going to Grace Midtown Church in Atlanta before I had even come out. I was just working my way through my own coming out process, and I wanted to find a church that looked and felt similar to the tradition I’d come from. Grace Midtown fit the bill to a tee. Pretty hipster, a splash of pentecostal expressiveness, a stellar band, and preaching that actually made me excited to be a follower of Jesus.

I felt welcome by everyone I met. I never felt like I had to hide any part of who I was. Plus I knew other queer people who already went to this church. I thought, for sure, this church was a safe place for someone like me. They never said anything about lgbtq+ people or anything comparable to LGBTQ+ issues, so why would I even think to ask? Don’t actions speak louder than words?

After attending the ch
