One Night Stand: What festivalgoers heading to St Helens can expect

The small coastal town of St Helens in Tasmania usually comes alive and buzzes with visitors in summer but this weekend there'll be an early taste of the annual influx.

Locals are expecting up to 15,000 tourists, businesses have ordered almost a month worth of supplies to use in just two days, and Tasmania Police will step up its presence in the area.

Why? Because this Saturday, triple j's free One Night Stand concert will be held in the normally sleepy fishing town.

So what is One Night Stand? It's exactly what the name suggests — one night featuring you, the festivalgoer, a group of bands and an army of assist crew in and around town.

Then on Sunday, everything will be packed up, and you'll be left with memories, crumpled sleeping bags and social media posts.

So if you are packing up and heading off with your friends, partner, the kids, or even the grandkids, this minuscule guide might facilitate you.
