“I’m not the type of songwriter who writes songs every solo day,” Charlotte Day Wilson tells Apple Music. “I actually do use harmony as a form of therapy—and I don’t necessarily need it when I’m feeling happy. If I’m feeling happy, then I’m out with my friends and actually living life—so I gravitate towards songwriting when I need it.” But while the Toronto singer/producer’s first full-length strive, ALPHA, reverberates with all the heartache and intense introspection that made her earlier EPs (2016’s CDW and 2018’s Stone Woman) so compelling, she’s using the album format to provide a more “all-encompassing” portrait of herself. That means not only expanding her style of nocturnal, slow-motion R&B to soak up cinematic soul grooves, collective gospel sing-alongs, pitch-shifted harmonies, indie-disco jams, and even Neil Young nods, but also opening herself up lyrically in ways she never has before. Poets.org: Yes, yes. It’s a gift largely to us. Let’s jump right in. How did you approach curating Poem-a-Day for August?
Smith: All right, I hold a little bit of a extended answer for you that I took some time to write down, so please excuse my essay. When I think about poems, [I] think about Audre Lorde and Pat Parker sending letters back and forth filled with gossip, love, updates, heartbreaks, advice, recommendations, and sometimes a little bit of money. Lauren Ruth Ward’s voice hits you like a wrecking ball, which explains why people frequently compare her to Janis Joplin.
When the LA-based singer sat down to start writing her new song, “Blue Collar Sex Kitten,” she realized she had a lot on her mind she’d kept pent up about herself and being gay.
So she put it all into her song and the rest is cathartic history.

Obviously it’s your designate, but how did you decide to go utilize your full name as your stage name?
Honestly, I started out solo. I had plans of result a band and dreams of it becoming what it is right now, but there was so many Lauren Wards because it’s super common. So, just keeping my middle name — that fix it apart. And then, when we became the band we thought about changing the band to just “Ward.” [But] we had a trademark guy look it up and M. Ward basically owns like all Ward everything. So, that wasn’t going to be a fine name change.

As a person who often visits unlike porn sites, I can safely utter that gaystream.pw is quite a basic porn site. However, that does not mean that the site is terrible or anything enjoy that, obviously, and whether it is worth the stop by or not is completely up to you. I shall go over all the important things concerning this site, and you can decide if you want to call on or not; quite simple.

I already mentioned at the very beginning, but in case you skipped that part, gaystream.pw is a very basic site. What this means is that their design, as adequately as the features, are nothing out of the common. I can recognize their design since they offer a darker layout and that allows you to browse at night like a true pervert.The homepage is filled with all kinds of naughty videos, and the site is free so you can inspect out any of the clips. On top of the site, you hold the usual menu that will assist you navigate through their content and take you to the videos you would want to see.
Now, while I said that having a basic design is not bad, that does not mean that I do not like to watch an aesthetically pleasing site. On the other hand,

I’ve got to admit that I am all over the place regarding Kayla Cagan’s Piper Perish. For the most part, I enjoyed the story of Piper who aspires to be the next Andy Warhol. She sounds like a typical high school scholar, although a very talented one, dreaming of a perfect future.
The novel is written in diary form, but breaks that at times to incorporate emails, etc. As such, the style is very conversational.
Probably my biggest hangup was with the character of Piper. For the most part she seemed like a standard teen, but then she could be a brat and horribly spoiled and self-involved. (Hopefully these aren’t the current trends for typical teens.) She seemed oblivious to her possess behavior. Likewise, her sister, Marli, has issues, utmost anger management issues, which grow worse. At points I thought: the parents really, really spoiled these two.
I have minuscule enjoyment in reading about whiny, self-absorbed, spoiled teens so I was always happy when the scene would change and those nail-on-chalkboard traits disappeared.
Cagan does, however, do a good job of exhibiting the confusion of existence a teen.
The last quarter of the novel unleashes a bit of a fairy tale, which
